Mystic Congregational Church Youth Ministries

..but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another…….1John 1:7  We believe that there is great value in building friendships and having fun with one another. We are outdoors when the weather permits and play games like Soccer, volleyball, flag football and spend time on the beach. We also like to play Wii, foosball, pool, darts, and board games and enjoy annual adventures like tubing, skiing, snowboarding and hiking. We do all this together in a safe friendly environment where EVERYONE IS INCLUDED.

Serving Others faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead……James 2:17  We believe we are very blessed, and God expects us to share our time, talents, and resources. As a youth group we collect food, prepare holiday meal baskets, participate in environmental clean ups, and go on mission trips both near and far. We prepare and serve food to local shelters as a regular part of our programming.

Following Jesus that you should follow in his steps……1Peter 2:21  We believe that Jesus is our best example of how to live a life that both enriches ourselves and the people around us. We believe that the Bible contains messages that are relevant to us today and we try to apply those ideals to our daily lives as best we can. We also join together for ecumenical worship and fellowship with other local church youth groups.

Education teach shrewdness to the simple, knowledge and prudence to the young…..Proverbs 1:4  We believe in the importance of expanding the minds of our youth by taking part in special programs including both ecumenical and interfaith activities. Guest speakers, trips to partnership churches and leading worship in our own church are all part of this program.

Community Service & Mission Trip … and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord……1Corinthians 12:5  We believe that if someone needs help, we should help them. We do this in a variety of ways by collecting and delivering food, preparing and serving meals, making blankets for children, fundraising and taking part in hunger walks. Each year we go on a week long mission trip where we have assisted with home building, painting, cleaning up debris and working in shelters. Our travels have taken us from Tennessee to Maine.

Middle School Youth Group

Our middle schoolers, grades 6-8, gather together on selected Sundays immediately after our 10:00 am worship service from 11:30am until 1:00pm. We enjoy a lunch together and then spend fellowship time playing recreational games both indoors and out.

Senior High School Youth Group

Our high school youth group, grades 9-12, meet most Sundays from 11:30am until 1:00pm. We spend devotional time together in various discussions on current topics and  try to relate how the teachings of Jesus can apply to our daily lives. We play games together building trust and strengthening our relationships with each other. Sometimes we pile into cars to go to various outings like bowling, kickball games and even a corn maze or apple picking.
